That is why, whenever the distributor has to perform a periodic inspection, the company will send users a letter in advance, giving them notice of the inspection to be carried out and the details of the partner company that will be performing it. The notice will be delivered to the property a few days before the date of the inspection, bearing the logo of the company and stating the day of the inspection. Gas Natural Fenosa informs its customers that the inspection costs are always charged on its bills and are never paid in cash.
Customers, on the other hand, can also take out a maintenance service contract, under Royal Decree 1027/2007, of 20 July. Customers who have signed up for a Servigas maintenance service will receive a letter sent from their supplier a few days before the checks are to take place. The Servigas maintenance service (depending on the type of cover taken out) includes an annual inspection of the individual gas receiver installation, the central heating circuit and gas appliances, as well as a 24-hour emergency service, every day of the year. Servigas maintenance services are added to your bill and are never paid upfront in cash.
In accordance with the legislation in force and the provisions set out in the new Royal Decree 984/2015, of 30 October, the Periodic Inspection must be carried out every 5 years. The distribution company (the corresponding gas distribution company of the Gas Natural Group for the area) shall notify customers by letter that it must be carried out, informing them they may choose an authorised gas installation company to carry out the inspection of their facility. The text of Royal Decree 984/2015 can be found on the website of the Gas Natural Group’s gas distribution companies.
The distribution company must send this notification at least three months in advance and it will refer to the inspection of shared reception facilities as well as individual reception facilities. If the distribution company has not received the corresponding inspection certificate when the three-month period has expired, it shall be considered that the customer has not completed the inspection with an installation company and the inspection will therefore be conducted by the distribution company.
If the customer wishes an installation company to conduct the inspection, they will be required to contact said company within the deadline indicated in the letter. The installation company shall be responsible for informing the gas distribution company of completion and the result of the inspection.
- Cost of the periodic inspection: payment is made through the gas bills issued by the marketing company. Under no circumstances should the money be paid during the inspection.
In accordance with current legislation, the maintenance, conservation and proper use of the gas installation, the thermal installation and gas appliances are the responsibility of the owner or, in the absence of an owner, the users.
